Can you sew ink jet cotton transfer sheets without adhering to a fabric base?

I have the cotton fabric sheets to be run through my printer. I'd like to use these directly as a part of a quilt block. These sheets are by Jacquard, Ink Jet cotton sheets. Do they have to be fused on to another piece of fabric before being sewn?
