Herbert Hoover said that the depression should not be touched by the federal government and that it would run its course. The next thing you know, the unemployment rate had skyrocketed, "Hoovervilles" began springing up in city parks, and the economy continued to deteriorate. Why do the GOP still take the same stance in 2009 with the recession, after history proves that non-intervention leads to the prolonged suffering of the people?
